Sam also acted in the movie "Thou Shalt Not Kill...Except". He played the part of the "vicious leader" of a cult of crazed murderers. The movie was distributed by Anchor Bay Entertainment. Bruce Campbell co-wrote the film.

Sam is a huge fan of The Three Stooges. He made many super-8 films that resembled classic Stooge shorts. He uses Stooge-like sequences in many of his movies.

Sam is the executive producer of "Xena: Warrior Princess" with longtime partner Robert Tapert. Raimi and Tapert are also executive producing the syndicated hit series "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys" for Studios USA, and the new CBS-TV series "American Gothic." All three shows are being produced under the team's Renaissance Pictures banner.
